Trinity Triangle Gets Unanimous Recommendation for Approval

Decatur Metro | October 10, 2008

The summary from last night’s Planning Commission meeting notes that the Trinity Triangle plan was unanimously recommended for approval with the following conditions…

-The property shall be developed according to plans substantially similar to those submitted with the application,

- The buildings shall be developed according to plans substantially similar to those submitted with the  application, with the understanding that the Dairy Queen building improvements are subject to the approval of Dairy Queen International,

-On-street parking on West Howard Avenue will be marked as parking for Dairy Queen or have a 30 minute time limit,

- The on-street parking closest to the Dairy Queen will include at least 1 handicapped parking space,

- The project shall meet the current bicycle parking requirements, and

- The Engineering Department will consider ways to facilitate traffic flow on West Trinity Place.

- The developer shall be bound by the conditions approved by the Decatur Downtown Development Authority in its resolution of support dated August 15, 2008.

Unfortunately I was unable to attend the meeting, so I’m unsure how many people showed or spoke up.

Decatur Metro | October 10, 2008

Fleet Feet wants to get you out on those new, Decatur sidewalks!  Kim sends along this message…

Need a little incentive to get out the door and start exercising? Fleet Feet Decatur is teaming up with Brooks Sports from October to January to provide you with a carrot – free prizes – as part of our Run for Rewards program.

Here’s the low-down:

WHAT: Run for Rewards – A 12-week fun run/walk program that rewards you for showing up and sweating.
WHEN: Oct. 14 – Jan. 15 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. during that evening’s fun run/walk. We will offer a three- and five-mile course. All abilities (runners and walkers) are welcome!
WHERE: Fleet Feet Sports Decatur (431 W Ponce de Leon Avenue in downtown Decatur)
HOW: Bring your shoes and join us on our fun run/walk to receive one punch on your Run for Rewards card.
- With multiple punches you will receive free Brooks drawstring bags, technical shirts and hats. What’s more, the top three participants will receive a FREE pair of Brooks shoes.
- Bring a friend, and we’ll put two punches on your card the first time they join you.
WHY: For the free stuff! (Oh, and also to live FIT and stay active.)

You can join the program at any time during its duration. For more information, visit www.fleetfeetdecatur.com or call us at 404.371.0208.

We Exist!

Decatur Metro | October 10, 2008

After months of pilfering without acknowledgment, the AJC finally uttered the names of InDecatur and this site in a recent blurb about the city’s new “Decatur Minute” blog.  It’s not a feature in the NY Times (like the one a lady who blogged about a year of daily visits to Brooklyn’s Prospect Park got a while back – a great blog incidentally), but we’ll take it.

Also we get nice props from Linda Harris.  She sure knows how to make a blogger blush.

Speaking of The Decatur Minute, yesterday Catherine reminded us that tomorrow is the Oakhurst Arts and Music Festival (10a-7p).  The 5k Arts Run starts at 8a in front of One Step at a Time.

BTW: I pilfered this from InDecatur
