The AJC reports on the death of avid Clarkston cyclist Richard C. Baker (nickname “Chris”), who was killed on Othello Ave outside of Clarkston this week.   DeKalb County says that Baker ran a stop sign, but friends find that hard to believe.

This is very close to where we used to live before moving closer intown a few years back.  From my recollection, Othello is a residential road.  So how fast was the car going?  Apparently fast enough to kill someone.  Yet no mention of that in the article.

Perhaps this is a good time to mention the Confident City Cycling Class being held at the Rec Center tomorrow.  231 Sycamore has all the details.  UPDATE: KC says that the class has been cancelled due to lack of interest.

Long Time Crescent Moon Waitress reports in with an update…

“crescent moon is SUPPOSED to be closing for good after sunday and rob is going to be leasing the spot out to THUMBS UP. i believe that this is really what is going to happen and i also feel like it will be a very great thing for all of us who are looking for a great place to have brunch again. keep your eyes open it should not take very much longer.”

Anyone want to confirm or deny?

Right now Thumbs Up Diner has three locations: on Edgewood Ave, Marietta St. and in East Point.  An Avondale Estates location recently closed due to the sale of the property…so it makes sense that they would look to reopen in the area.
