Facilitated 315 W. Ponce Meeting Date Set

Decatur Metro | October 7, 2008
Otis White

Otis White

The city writes in letting us know “that the facilitated public meeting regarding the redevelopment proposal for 315 W. Ponce de Leon Ave. is scheduled for Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Commission Meeting Room, Decatur City Hall, 509 N. McDonough Avenue.  Otis White will be the facilitator.”

Check out Mr. White’s bio after the jump.  Judging from his background, he is no slouch.

Slightly more intriguing is a “7 Big Lessons for Local Governments” article that White penned for Governing magazine, before leaving in January 2006.  Lesson 3 is particularly poignant for our city. Read the rest of this entry »

Decatur Beer Festival Tickets Sold Out

Decatur Metro | October 7, 2008

Over in his summary of last night’s commission meeting, David reports that the Beer Festival mentioned to the committee that there were only 86 tickets remaining for next weekend’s drink-a-thon.

However, a check of the festival’s website shows that all tickets are sold-out.  So if you waited too long, it now looks like your only option is to scoop them up off Craigslist at a huge premium.

Small Fire at Sweet Melissa's This Morning

Decatur Metro | October 7, 2008

Scott reports in with news (and a pic) that a small kitchen fire at Sweet Melissa’s had many of Decatur’s firefighters up on East Courthouse Square this morning.

Hope damage isn’t too bad.  Isn’t the Brick Store’s Belgian Bar directly over that kitchen?

Please write in if you have details.
