Decatur Baseball and Softball Fields to Get New Lights

Decatur Metro | September 11, 2012

From the Be Active Decatur blog…

The softball and baseball fields at Decatur’s McKoy and Oakhurst Parks will get new lighting systems, with construction expected to start Oct.1 and take about three months. Deputy City Manager Hugh Saxon said the new lights will be 15 percent more efficient and spread far less glare to surrounding neighborhoods. The system will be installed by Daveco Electrical of Boynton Beach, Florida, which constructed lights for the Florida Marlins stadium and the Boston Red Sox spring training facility. The current McKoy and Oakhurst lights are more than 50 years old.

Dog Lost in Briarcliff Woods

Decatur Metro | September 11, 2012

Christina writes in…

My husband and I lost our black lab [on Sunday]. She was last seen Sunday 9/9 at about 9am. We live in the Briarcliff Woods neighborhood near Briarcliff Road and Chrysler Drive. Her name is “Pandora”, but she also responds to “Doh-Row” (her nickname).  Pandora is large – around 90 lbs.  If anyone has seen her, please call Colin at .
