Why does YDFM not scale the fish before filleting it for sale??? Try scaling a fish filet, especially blu e fish. I've complained and I still get scales, ESP on the salmon. H Mart is much better.

Haven't had it in a few years (pesky geography) but the fish in hot chili oil at Tasty China was fantastic every time I've had it. I think i tried it the first time at one the Frank Ma places (the one next to the Chinese Cultural Center on New Peachtree). His was even better, but I don't think he retired.

When Tasty China opens it's Emory Village location, it's the first thing I'm going to get. I mean, other than the glass of ice water.

Crawfish Shack. Freshest fish possible, pick your filet on ice. Where else can you get a large, lightly-battered, flaky grouper, four jumbo shrimp, a spicy corn on cob and fries or slaw ... for $8.99? Shoot, you pay more at a coastal beach shack for that, and the fish is just as fresh.Cooks are from New Orleans.

YDFM offers sushi grade tuna and I think it is really good. I don't think I've tried any of their other fish raw. Haven't been to the other stores you mentioned.

If you get lazy and don't want to bother with the rice, etc., here's a tasty treat. You can make tuna poke by chopping the tuna in a 1/2" (or larger) dice, and mixing with a dressing of lime juice, soy sauce, honey, sriracha, grated fresh ginger, roasted garlic and a splash of rice vinegar. Excellent served with a side of wakame (also available at YDFM) and believe it or not, papadums on which to place the tuna poke a bite at a time. YDFM offers these in the sugar aisle and they are quick to toast up in a dry skillet just seconds per side; store extras in the freezer.

Anyone here buy fish for homemade sushi?

I'm interested because I took a great class on sushi making at Cook's Warehouse last week, and the chef-instructor recommended YDFM, Buford Highway Farmers Market or Super H Mart. (His take on WF seafood for sushi purposes: insufficient turnover in the store for it to be really fresh).
