The Piccadilly actually closed about 2 weeks ago.
Speaking of the vicinity of Picadilly, and barbecue, and closings, what of the Fox Brothers’ plans for the old Maddy’s building on Scott Blvd? There’s now a “For Rent” sign out front. Is it because of the expenses of rebuilding their tree-crushed building on Dekalb Ave.?
Fox Brothers walked away from the deal. Apparently, parking issues and problems with the building itself. sigh…
Partly unanticipated costs & zoning issues associated with the Maddy’s space, and partly due to the tree damage on DeKalb Ave. They’re trying to move forward on repairs but anyone who’s ever had a property damage insurance claim knows, it’s not the quickest process.
Though I only went there once, I’m kinda bummed about Piccadilly closing…
Me, too. Haven’t been to a Piccadilly in years — a function of my own different work/traffic patterns — but like knowing it’s around. Guess retailers & restaurants can’t survive on best wishes.
Friend of a friend used to say the perfect dining-out day in Atlanta is breakfast at Waffle House, lunch at the Varsity and supper at Piccadilly.
I know it’s not all that healthy, but I loved having Piccadilly close by. If I needed dinner for 6 quick, I could go there any night and walk out with to go boxes in hand in under 10 minutes. Kids always cleaned their plates on Picadilly nights. There’s another one up on Lavista, but I am unlikely to fight the traffic to get there. Boo.
Nice place for a quiet meal … I’ll miss it. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look good for Piccadilly. The company just filed Chapter 11.
