Decatur Booster Club Seeking Business Sponsors

Decatur Metro | August 3, 2010

The new President of Decatur High and Renfroe Booster Club, Ann Berg, sends in this note asking for support from Decatur’s business community…

You may not know this but tax dollars/school funds are not used to buy uniforms, equipment (including nets, mats, balls, batting cages, etc.) or athlete recognition banquets and awards. Funding for these crucial items comes from sponsors like you! Your donation is tax deductable because we are a 501© 3 organization. You play a crucial role in maintaining our sports programs and helping our athletes reach new heights in 2010-2011.

The Booster Club believes in the importance of sport in developing children as well as building school and community spirit. Help us build on our tradition of excellence and ensure the future success of Decatur High School and Renfroe Middle School sports programs. Become a sponsor today!

One more pic from a different vantage point after the jump.

Decatur To Buy 4 New Trash Pickup Vehicles

Decatur Metro | August 3, 2010

You might have seen this little fella around town over the last couple years.

That’s because Decatur’s had one Kubota for a couple years now, and even early on city employees mentioned that it was heads-and-tails above the city’s other golf cart-ish trash collectors.

Not only was it a more powerful and effective vehicle, but it also didn’t breakdown nearly as often and was much easier to maintain.

Reporting from last night’s City Commission meeting, Dave notes that Asst. City Manager David Junger reiterated many these points to the commission before they approved the purchase of four new Kubutas at a total cost of around $100,000.
