CORRECTION: No Trash Pick Up Christmas Day and Day After

    Decatur Metro | December 23, 2013

    Linda Harris sets me straight…

Monday, Dec. 23 and Tuesday, Dec. 24 solid waste and recycling will be collected as regularly scheduled.

The City is closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Thursday, Dec. 26 so regular solid waste and recycling services for both Thursday and Friday will be on Friday, Dec. 27.

New Year’s Day is on Wednesday, Jan. 1 so there are no changes to the regular solid waste and recycling schedule that week.

WRONG! A little birdie reminds us that Decatur trash pickup normally scheduled for Tuesday, December 24th or Wednesday, December 25th will instead be collected on Canadian Boxing Day, December 26th.

Decatur Monday & Tuesday Trash Pickup Delayed Until Next Week

    Decatur Metro | January 11, 2011

From the City of Decatur’s Linda Harris…

Sanitation & Recycling Services scheduled for Monday, Jan 10 and Tuesday, Jan. 11 have been re-scheduled for next week.

Because of the MLK, Jr. Holiday, Monday services for Jan 10 & Jan 17 will be on Tuesday, Jan 18 and Tuesday services for Jan. 11 & Jan. 18 will be on Wednesday, Jan. 19.

If you have an extreme situation related to the re-scheduling of this week’s pick-up, please call Public Works at 404-377-5571 in order to allow them to address the issue.

Currently, Sanitation & Recycling Services scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 13 and Friday, Jan. 14 will be collected as scheduled. Should circumstances require, changes will be announced on the website and via local news media.

Decatur To Buy 4 New Trash Pickup Vehicles

    Decatur Metro | August 3, 2010

You might have seen this little fella around town over the last couple years.

That’s because Decatur’s had one Kubota for a couple years now, and even early on city employees mentioned that it was heads-and-tails above the city’s other golf cart-ish trash collectors.

Not only was it a more powerful and effective vehicle, but it also didn’t breakdown nearly as often and was much easier to maintain.

Reporting from last night’s City Commission meeting, Dave notes that Asst. City Manager David Junger reiterated many these points to the commission before they approved the purchase of four new Kubutas at a total cost of around $100,000.
