Clairemont Restaurant Openings

Decatur Metro | June 3, 2009

Rus writes in with details and a little review for two (relatively) new spots along Clairemont Road.

1) “Andryannis” is a fantastic Greek restaurant that is having it’s Grand Opening. It’s in a difficult spot located on the rear corner of the Cornerstone Bank @ 125 Clairemont Ave #160 …but it’s worth finding, best Greek food I’ve had in a long time. M-F 7am-4pm (opening for Sunday brunch soon) www.andryannis.com

2) “Debbie’s” replaces Julie’s on Clairemont. Jamacian/American (what I think of as Jamacian Soul Food). Excellent veggie plates (yummy collard greens) and Jamacian standards. Very friendly people, inexpensive and open until 5:30.

Nittany mentioned Debbie’s a couple months ago, but it never got it’s own post.

Decatur Court Kings Home Opener Tomorrow

Decatur Metro | June 3, 2009

In case you hadn’t heard (from here or here), Decatur now has it’s own professional basketball team playing all their home games at Agnes Scott.  The Decatur Court Kings were the 2008 champions in the WBA league, and have recently relocated to the city.

The league is made up of 9 southeastern teams and according to the Champion newspaper “Six of the teams are located in Georgia. Others are located in Tennessee, Mississippi and Florida. The season consists of a combined 30 games. Decatur will play 10 games from May 23 until June 28.”

The home opener vs. the Buford Majic begins tomorrow night at 7p at the Decatur Rec Center.

Barnes is Back

Decatur Metro | June 3, 2009

Jim Galloway reports this morning that former governor Roy Barnes will enter the 2010 governor’s race and I’m not sure how I feel about it.

I find myself wondering, is there no one else?

I guess fighting over the incorporation of Dunwoody wasn’t as fulfilling as holding the state’s highest office.  Who’d thunk it?
