Decatur Losing Julie's Cafe
Decatur Metro | April 20, 2008Scott writes in that Julie’s Cafe, the little hole in the wall around the corner from the Masonic Temple building, is closing.
According to Scott, Julie said the restaurant was too much work to keep going. I’m sure that the current economic climate isn’t helping either. I can’t say I’ve ever eaten at Julie’s, but Scott morns the loss of this “Jamaican Jewel”. CL seemed to like it.
One additional note: Scott reports that the Probation Office in the same strip as Wahoo! and Ink & Dagger Tattoo Parlour has put up a “For Lease” sign.
We’ll all have to keep an eye out to see what takes the place of these two establishments!
Thanks for the updates Scott!
My husband works in the Towne Square building just up the street from Julie’s, and eats lunch there at least twice a week. He loves their jerk chicken. He said that Julie is trying to sell, but has had no takers yet.
Sorry to hear about Julie’s, I only ate there once but it was awesome. I believe I can speak for all of the tenants in the building when I say we are all excited to see what happens with the probation office space. The new Moxie Java Bistro in the next building over has become my everyday cafeteria.
Oh crap. That is bad news. She makes some mean oxtails.
They are still open and AMAZINGLY delicious…take advantage while you can.
Russ…is Moxie still open? ANyway, guess the probation business has been hit by the economy as well.
Yesterday, there were balloons tied to the outdoor seating and a new sign saying Debbie’s Cafe. Looks to still be a Jamaican menu. Anybody have an update on the change in ownership?
