Terrell Bolton’s Firing Upheld
Decatur Metro | August 18, 2009From Fox 5 Atlanta…
The firing of former DeKalb County Police Chief Terrell Bolton was upheld Monday. Bolton was fired following a FOX 5 I-Team investigation that found Bolton took 70 comp days during his first two years on the job.
DeKalb CEO Burrell Ellis fired Bolton for insubordination, misuse of county property and acts unbecoming an officer.
What will DeKalb’s ex-telecommuting police chief do now? Well according to the article, he still has an Equal Opportunity Commission complaint pending, so that should keep him busy for a bit longer.
Hats still off to CEO Burrell Ellis for working quickly to clean up this mess.
Good news. I also liked CEO Ellis’ quick action during the state swimming meet fiasco. Firing the Parks & Recreation manager for incompetence was the right move.
This is great news! He definitely deserved to be fired, or, more accurately, to have never been hired in the first place (thanks, Vernon). And I’m especially glad the county will probably not have to pay him some undeserved monetary settlement to be rid of him. A great ending to a not so great chapter of Dekalb politics.
Oh, we haven’t heard the last of Bolton. He’ll be appealing to court.
He plays the law suit lottery. He did it in Dallas and he is going to do it here. When he is hired and fired somewhere else, he will do it there.
