Thanks to a $209,000 balance remaining in the paving budget for this year, three more sections of Decatur roads are planning to be paved.
In the note from David Junger on the Decatur City Commission meeting agenda, the city is recommending paving…
- Ansley Street from Oakview Road to the westside of Kings Highway
- Talley Street in front of the Talley Street Lofts and Public Works facility
- The northside of Sams Crossing (GDOT recently repaved the southside of Sams Crossing when it paved College Ave)
Didn’t someone complain about Sams Crossing relatively recently? Oh yes, here it is.
“Thanks to a $209,000 balance remaining in the paving budget for this year, three more sections of Decatur roads are planning to be paved.”
Did the three sections of road have a meeting and present a proposal or did each street decide separately?
We are fighting a losing battle, but a worthy one.
I never knew those roads met.
(That would have been darn funny if I had beat FM Fats.)
Glad to see Ansley on the list. Driving on it feels like riding in a horse-drawn carriage.
Maybe it is just me, but isn’t this like the third post this month regarding “surplus” spending. Yes these repaving projects may be necessary, but is anyone else starting to think we need to re-evaluate out budgeting and/or level of taxation?
The money comes from the GA DOT, so our City taxes have nothing to do with it. If we don’t spend it, the money will go to someplace like Cumming…
I was so thrilled they got the south end of Sams Xing done, now I’ll be in hog heaven. As my 3 y.o. says, “it’s smoooooth!”
how do we get our subdivisions off of Katie Kerr paved???
In the repaving of these streets, I hope they do a better job when it comes to the sewer/manhole covers and grates. The repaving on Clairmont Rd is horrible around them. The new asphalt is much higher than the grates now, your car hits them hard. I can only imagine this means these areas of roads will just begin to crumble soon.
It’s because they don’t take the time to raise the manhole covers. It’s time consuming and labor intensive to properly pave around those areas.
What about tapering around them at least?
