Decatur Bulldog Boosters Reach Out To Community

    Decatur Metro | August 18, 2009

Jim sends in this press release from the Bulldog Boosters…

The Decatur Bulldog Boosters (DBB) is a volunteer group of parents, teachers, administrators and community members who through their efforts support all the athletic teams at Renfroe Middle and Decatur High Schools. There are currently 25 teams representing 14 sports at RMS and DHS. And we are the only Booster Club for the middle and high school and support all sports. Over 55% of the students at the middle and high schools participate in at least one sport. No school district money or gate receipts can go to funding the uniforms, equipment, and/or student recognition awards for athletics at either the middle or high school. Therefore, the DBB must raise this money, annually. Athletics is a significant part of the City Schools of Decatur experience which augments the fine academic tradition that has served all our graduates so well and contributes each year to our sense of community.

The Decatur Bulldog Boosters would like to invite the business community to join us in supporting these fine student athletes by supporting the DBB.

There are many ways you can get involved and help our Decatur Bulldogs excel. 1) Advertise in our sports programs and on the electronic scoreboard at the stadium, 2) Participate in our fundraising events like Oktoberfest, Winter Run with the Dogs, Spring Sports Fest and the Annual Golf Tournament, 3) Become a member of DBB, 4) Make a donation, or 5) Become a sponsor. Our annual goal is to raise and contribute $125,000 to the athletic department but our ultimate goal is to see to it that no student athlete has to pay to play any sport. Whether you are a parent, a sports fan, or an active member of the community, please join us in supporting our middle and high school kids as they reach for their dreams. Please help our student athletes bring their “A” game. For more information visit the DBB website at: http://dhs.cityschoolsofdecatur.com/boosters.shtml
