    Decatur Will Host First Annual “Southeastern Craft Brewers’ Symposium”

    Randomly came across this after picking up a copy of “Southern Brew News“.

    The Georgia Craft Brewers Guild is excited to announce our first annual Southeastern Craft Brewers’ Symposium. This awesome event is a one-day conference featuring 10, 45 minute seminars from the leaders of the craft brewing industry.  For avid homebrewers there will be seminars on the science of brewing from brewmasters, suppliers, and experts on topics such as yeast, adjunct grains, and recipe development. For the next generation of southeastern brewery owners we’re offering a unique series of seminars on the business of brewing. These seminars will cover everything from how to raise money to how to write a business plan.

    Stay tuned to this page for updates to the seminar schedule and other events we’ll be planning around the conference.

    The 12th Annual Tour deCatur 1-mile Fun Run and 5K will be run on March 15 –  only 2 1/2 weeks from now!   Register now at the early-bird registration fee of $25 for adults, $20 for CSD faculty/staff and City of Decatur employees, and $15 for youth (18 and under). The rate goes up to $30 for ALL AGES after Feb 28th.  New this year – timing chips for all 5K runners!  For further details and to register go to TourdeCatur.com

    The Seen Gallery Closing

    Decaturish has an extensive report this morning on the impending closing of The Seen Gallery, the art gallery on Church Street that’s been in Decatur since 2002…

    Bill Bibb and Vicki Elders are confronting the stages of their grief.

    Bibb is closing The Seen Gallery on Church Street in Decatur where Elders is the gallery’s manager, but he hasn’t made the official announcement yet. He hasn’t set a closing date, but said it will probably be gone within a month. Most of the art in the store is on sale.

    College Alternatives Fair at Decatur High – Monday, March 3rd

    Wondering what you are going to do after graduation? Daunted or unexcited by the prospect of a four year college? Want to experience something different before going to college? Not sure if it’s worth investing so much money into a college degree?

    Get your questions answered at the Decatur High School College Alternatives Fair! The event will be held on Monday, March 3rd from 6 until 8 pm in the Decatur High School Performing Arts Center located at 310 N McDonough Street in downtown Decatur.

    Decatur Senior Haegen Altizer has gathered representatives from many different post high school opportunities to share exciting alternatives with students and parents. From gap year programs to career training and apprenticeships there are all sorts of options that you may not even be thinking about. The event is FREE!  Come out and see what great programs might be right for you.
