    The Seen Gallery Closing

    Decatur Metro | February 25, 2014

Decaturish has an extensive report this morning on the impending closing of The Seen Gallery, the art gallery on Church Street that’s been in Decatur since 2002…

Bill Bibb and Vicki Elders are confronting the stages of their grief.

Bibb is closing The Seen Gallery on Church Street in Decatur where Elders is the gallery’s manager, but he hasn’t made the official announcement yet. He hasn’t set a closing date, but said it will probably be gone within a month. Most of the art in the store is on sale.

    Seen Gallery’s “Tech-Know-Logic” Opens Aug 1st

    Decatur Metro | July 21, 2009

As many of you already know, Seen Gallery co-owner Bill Bibb had a heart attack a couple of weeks ago and has since under gone open-heart surgery.  From his Facebook page, it sounds like Bill’s well on his way to a full recovery (yay!), but while he’s on the mend for the next month or so, he has some local artists helping out at the Gallery.

One of those artists is Denise Wellenstein, who forwarded this press release about the gallery’s August 1st opening of “Tech-Know-Logic”, featuring Travis Smith, Jonathan Fisher, and (Denise’s husband) Chris May.

    “Tech-know-logic: Three Artists/Three Technologies”

Opening Saturday, August 1, 7-10 PM

Three artists, Travis Smith, Jonathan Fisher, and Chris May, who use the technology of differing media: traditional painting with non-traditional subjects, print making combined with photographic techniques, and encaustic with photography and painting, create structured imagery reminiscent of today’s technological world. The artists, from differing backgrounds, using differing techniques, and approaching their art from different directions have a striking similarity with each other in their imaginative approach to their art. The outcome is a cohesive and thought provoking exhibit which premieres on Saturday, August 1 and runs through Wednesday, September 2, 2009.

    Seen Gallery Reopening Downtown

    Decatur Metro | January 4, 2009

Carl has given us the heads up about the Seen Gallery’s relocation in the old “Houseworks” T-Mobile space, but now he sends along the details from a recent email…

The Seen Gallery is presently relocating to downtown Decatur. We will be conveniently located at 415 Church Street, two doors down from Java Monkey coffee and wine bar and one door down from Mingei World Arts, directly across from the Decatur Marta train station.

We, and our talented artists, are tremendously excited about the new space and the opportunity to more efficiently serve the art community. The move comes at a very good time for us as we close out our best year ever in placing art in the homes and businesses of collectors of art nationwide. The new space is much more conducive to the display, and sales, of art. The newer, modern, building will also not have the many environmental and security issues, detrimental to art preservation and safekeeping, that we have not been successful in remedying in our previous location.

Plan to attend our sneak preview on Friday, January 23 7-10 pm and our “Grand Reopening” on Saturday, March 7, 7-10 pm.
