Well as they always say, April showers bring May…showers, bring, um…June…breeding lilacs…or is it raining roses or…little rainbows of chaos must fall?  Sorry, I tend to get my rain metaphors mixed up.

Update: The Movie on the Square has been cancelled this evening. The rain date is Friday, June 7.

This first weekend in May holds lots of potential…Movie on the Square, Sidewalk Saturdays, the Decatur Farmer’s Market, and Concerts on the Square! Now, if only a little thing called Mother Nature would realize that we don’t have time for inclement weather we would be just fine.

Here are the details for all of the events mentioned above. In the case of rain-outs, we will alert the community here on the blog as well as on Facebook and  Twitter (@downtownDecatur)

Broderick at the Savvy Exposure blog takes gorgeous food photos all around Atlanta.  He recently went inside the new Steady Hand @ Iberian Pig and snapped a few shots.  Check ‘em out HERE!  Not just great photos, but also gives a good feel for how they’re utilizing the space.  Pretty neat!

There’s a group of us, who, through Twitter, do a free art hunt the 1st Friday of every month–hashtag #FAFATL( or fafatl.com).

…[On] May 18th we will be out there hiding art in Decatur and Oakhurst. We have about 20 artists lined up, so there should be a fair amount of art going out.

The Facebook page is “free art hunt decatur”.  They shared it with the Decatur Arts Alliance and Decatur Arts Fest pages too.  The page should be more active soon.  I’m trying to get folks to post piece of the art.

Also, there is a preview “show this friday at-The Acme Building 533 West Howard Ave Suite D, Decatur, GA 30030–facebook page is May the 3rd FAFATL Star Wars Day Pre Show., which includes a bunch of artists who will be joining in on May 18th.
