Decatur Commission Meeting: Bulleted

Decatur Metro | June 4, 2012

No huge headlines out of this week’s Decatur city commission meeting, so here are just a few random tidbits instead!

  • Environmental Sustainability Plan up for adoption tonight
  • City is planning to write a National Register nomination for the city’s “northeast regional neighborhoods”
  • Commission will vote to award Decatur Square “lawn improvements” to Ed Castro Landscape Inc of Roswell, the low bidder
  • The city received $16,278 for a claim of stolen copper piping from the Rec Center renovation
  • The city commission will be sending the 10 recently annexed parcels along College Ave (see above) to the Planning Commission to establish them as “Heavy Commercial”

Suburban Plaza Walmart Site Plan Updates and a Renovation Timeline

Decatur Metro | June 4, 2012

The Medlock Area Neighborhood Association website has a very informative update for all of you interested in staying up-to-date on all the Suburban Plaza Walmart goings-on.

The map above from MANA indicates changes from the October 2011 site plan.  More detail on all 5 updates are available on MANA’s website.

As for a potential schedule for the renovation of Suburban Plaza, MANA says that Selig/Walmart is looking at the “the first half of 2013, barring unanticipated delays.”
