According to a press release that I may or may not have received but am too lazy to look for.. “HomeGoods is a discount home decor retailer store and the Suburban Plaza store will be the 14th store in the Atlanta area and will hire 65 full and part time employees.
The store is slated to open its doors [on Sunday March 13] at 8 a.m.”  Thanks Next Stop…Decatur!

Now, Tomorrow’s News Today reports that he’s heard a “national mattress retailer” will be moving into the new development…

Sources tell me that a “national mattress retailer” has signed a lease for 4,000 square feet in the center.  A “national wireless carrier” is reportedly in lease negotiations for the remaining 2,000 square feet.  If, as I’d say it’s safe to assume, the “national mattress retailer” ends up being Mattress Firm, it would be only a mile from the company’s huge, SuperCenter/Clearance store at North Decatur and Clairmont Roads.

An existing SunTrust ATM will reportedly be rebuilt and relocated as part of the new center.

Now that Walmart and LA Fitness have opened at Suburban Plaza, there’s renewed curiosity regarding the opening dates for other planned businesses in the renovated plaza.

Lucky for us, between Decaturish and the Medlock Neighborhood website, we can scrounge up relatively recent proposed opening dates for most of the plaza’s businesses.

This date has been floating around for a bit – Decaturish reported a Nov 11th opening a couple of weeks ago – but now you can see it with your own two eyes on the internet!  Just in time for the holidays, the Suburban Plaza Walmart, just outside of the city of Decatur, plans to open on Wednesday, November 11th, according to its website.

Decaturish says that LA Fitness plans to open in early December and other Suburban stores are shooting for a March opening.

Dwell Design Studio has released a series of renderings of Decatur Crossing, the Fuqau development across the street from the coming Suburban Plaza Walmart.  On their site it’s called “The Point”.  Here are a few of those renderings for your perusal…

Catching up from last week, but this is still certainly worth mentioning.

Atlanta Magazine reported a lot of interesting new facts about the future of Suburban Lanes in Suburban Plaza.

First things first, the alley will be renamed “Comet Pub & Lanes”.  (You can check out their Facebook page here)  Co-Owner Ethan Wurtzel tells Atlanta Magazine that the new space will have a “funkier, vintage” vibe to it.  The magazine elaborates…

The venue will have 32 lanes and vintage arcade games like pinball, plus shuffleboard and pool tables. About 90 percent of the space will be remodeled to include reclaimed church pews as on-lane seating, couches, and a bar made from a reclaimed bowling alley.

They’ll also be adding a full kitchen and bar with 15-20 beers on draft and wine by the glass or bottle, along with cocktail offerings.
