New Bakery Now Open on Clairmont Road Just North of Decatur

    Decatur Metro | February 16, 2015 | 11:22 am

You may have recently noticed a new sign up for “Lion Tamer Bread” in the T’Kila’s plaza along Clairmont Road just north of Decatur.

The bread is already available at area markets, including Oakhurst Market, Candler Park Market, The Dinner Shoppe and Splash of Olive.  Now the business has opened a brick and mortar location at 1248 Clairmont Road.

According to the bakery’s Facebook page, they opened this past Friday with four breads…

    1. the traditional white sourdough
    2. blonde – same flours as the white, plus wheat germ + dark rye
    3. 30% rye – like deli rye but with more rye flavor + caraway seeds
    4. whole wheat/oat porridge with molasses

    Sounds delish!

Signs Indicate New Tesla Service Center Being Built Right Outside Decatur

    Decatur Metro | June 9, 2014 | 9:51 am

    teslaservice

David writes in that after being told by staff at the Marietta location that a second Atlanta Tesla Service Center would be opening near Decatur later this year, he’s been looking for signs of life at the former Isuzu dealership at 1580 Church Street (Google streetview), across the street from Nalley BMW.

After spotting a dumpster in the driveway recently, he took a closer look and noticed architectural plans with a large Tesla logo tucked inside the front door.

David states he’s heard the new location plans to open around August.

CL’s Q&A with Herb Chereck of Decatur Package Store

    Decatur Metro | December 26, 2013 | 2:07 pm

Rodney points to this Q&A on Creative Loafing with Decatur Package Store owner Herb Chereck.  Here’s a taste…

First off, favorite places for a drink in Decatur?

Leon’s, Paper Plane, Kimball House, No. 246, Iberian Pig, Mac McGee. Truth be told, it’s hard to find a bad drink in Decatur.

What makes Decatur and its drinking culture special?

Red Mango on North Decatur Road Closes

    Decatur Metro | August 21, 2013 | 12:42 pm

    From Tomorrow’s News Today…

Red Mango has closed its last Atlanta location.

The frozen yogurt and smoothie shop closed their location at North Decatur Center at the intersection of North Decatur and Clairmont Roads last week.
Dallas, Texas-based Red Mango, an international froyo chain, entered the market (via a local franchisee) in 2010.  The first location opened in Dunwoody in September followed by Emory / Decatur in December.   A third was slated for Howell Mill Village near Howell Mill and Collier Roads, but given troubles the existing stores were experiencing, those plans were abandoned.  (Chipotle Mexican Grill opened in the space last year)
