Iberian Pig’s Menu and More Now Online
Decatur Metro | August 26, 2009 | 9:30 am
Decatur Food and Wine Dude notes via Twitter that the Iberian Pig’s website, which includes menus and much more, is now up and running.
At first glance, my immediate reaction is – these folks know what they’re doing.
The menu is lengthy and detailed, each member of management has a decent bio attached to their name, and there’s already a nice “press” page that includes things like “menu concept” and “green initiatives”. To give you a taste, here are the Pig’s stated “green initiatives”…
•A unique partnership with Whole Foods to compost our food waste. This is a partnership that we are very proud of, and we hope that we can encourage others to follow our lead in creating partnerships with other businesses that positively influence our impact on the planet.
•All of our excess cooking oil is converted into biofuel that is used in a variety of different consumer cosmetic products such as lipsticks, shampoos, and conditioners.
•All of our to-go containers and to-go cups are made from either sugarcane or corn and are 100% compost-able.
•We are committed to recycling all of our paper, plastic, and glass products
•We are committed to reducing our energy and water consumption.
•We are committed to buying locally and organically whenever feasible.
The site also predicts a “late summer” opening.

Thanks for the props, DM.
Menu looks awesome to me.
Their committment to green initiatives only sweetens the deal.
I think the Pig is gonna stick.
With a name like Iberian Pig, how can the place not rock!
Look forward to the opening.
Looks scrump-dilly-ump! (My late Nana’s favorite way to say “scrumptious”– sometimes I can’t help mysefl.) But I was hoping for paella to show up, too– ah, well, maybe they’ll feature it in a special or two…really looking forward to its opening, now. And I love that they “get” Decatur’s committment to being green– shows they’ve actually paid attention to the community they’re about to enter.
Paella is Spanish not Italian
I thought the Iberian peninsula is Spain and Portugal? Or did Asterix comics give me the wrong info?
Uhhh, it’s a Spanish restaurant.
I too was hoping for paella of some sort, but there’s plenty here that interests me without it. Also, part of me wonders if it’s a little culturally insensitive to expect every Spanish restaurant to serve paella, as if you’d walk into a sushi joint and say, “What, no ramen?” or expect every pizzeria to serve hot dogs, because that’s American food, right?
[...] The Iberian Pig, a new Spanish tapas restaurant opening on the square in Decatur, has its website up for you to check out, as reported by Decatur Metro. [...]
Looking forward to trying out The Iberian Pig! I, however, do not think expressing disappointment about paella not being on the menu is culturally insensitive in any way.
Does anyone know if its open yet? Or has been there? I”m really excited, I love spain and its food. I’m really hoping that they get the true concept of tapas instead of the overpriced appetizers that i’ve seen all over the city.
The September Decatur Focus says it’s open…but is it really? People at the Book Festival, can you confirm please?
Congratulations Chad! Send some iberian pig our way……
it seems that it will be opening sometime around the 20th of september.
