Agnes Scott Gets Top Marks in U.S. News
Decatur Metro | August 20, 2009The Decatur Minute has an Agnes Scott press release which touts its top ranking in multiple categories in this year’s U.S. News & World Report’s Top Colleges Issue.
- #2 “Up-and-Coming School” among liberal arts colleges
- #17 among liberal arts colleges with “A Strong Commitment to Teaching”
- #22 “Greats Schools, Great Prices”
- #59 among “Top Liberal Arts Colleges” nationwide, up from #63 three years ago
Pretty sweet. Way to show ‘em how it’s done Agnes Scott!
Also, big neighbor to the northwest, Emory, ranked 17th among all national universities. Also interestingly enough, Emory ranked #11 among the “Up-and-Coming Schools” category.
It also ranked “#1 – Colleges Andy walks near on his way home from El Tesoro”
I think that only made it in the online edition though.
Also, #1 college location for filming Hollywood ‘B’ movies.
You mean “D” movies-

They should have added their mention in “Colleges That Change Lives”>.
It’s a more in-depth, impressive and thoughtful look at colleges especially smaller “quieter” schools without big time athletics and seemingly a need to brag about their USN&WR rankings.
I wish Emory were closer to the square.
The Emory bus comes & goes from Decatur MARTA station very frequently, all day long, and it’s free for anyone, you don’t have to be a student/staff etc. Just get on the bus and ride up to the campus and back, no problem! I don’t think the Emory bus runs on weekends, but any weekday, you’ll find a free ride there. Emory is a worthy destination for all kinds of good reasons…
p.s. One of the Emory bus stops to/from the campus from the Decatur MARTA station is at the intersection of Clairmont and North Decatur, where there are several shops of interest, including Eagle Eye book store, Chocolat coffee shop, an excellent framing shop, and the best Indian restaurant within many miles: Bhojanic.
