Dine Out Tonight To Help Raise Reward in Henderson Murder
Decatur Metro | January 28, 2009WABE reminded me on my ride in this morning that tonight is the night to dine out at participating Atlanta metro area restaurants and bars to help contribute to the Crime Stoppers Atlanta reward fund being offered in connection to the Standard shooting of John Henderson.
Over 70 Atlanta area restaurants are currently participating. (See full list here) Each are encouraged to donate 20% of profits from the evening to the fund, however any amount is gladly accepted.
According to a map on the Atlantans Together Against Crime website, these four Decatur restaurants are among them:
- Raging Burrito
- Twain’s
- Universal Joint
- Steinbecks
Tacqueria de Sol is also on the list, though the Decatur location isn’t mapped. Can anyone confirm/deny the Decatur Tacqueria location?
I first learned of this event from an e-mail I received from Taqueria del Sol, so they are definitely participating.
A few of us went to Taqueria tonight. The place was packed. I know it generally gets lots of business on week nights. Nevertheless, I was touched by the large crowd on the night of the Dine Out. I saw a guy wearing a t-shirt with John’s photo on the front. It brought tears to my eyes.
Steinbecks was packed as well. It was a great turnout. Hopefully the reward will grow enough to help bring John’s murderers to justice.
We had a wait of nearly an hour for a table at The Shed in Glenwood Park. Great crowd; families, young couples, groups of friends, gay, straight, all colors, even middle aged empty nesters like us. Kudos to the bartender. She was literally running the whole time we were at the bar.
I hope everyone put a little oomph into their gratuities last night.
Stella Packed with an hour wait by 6:30. Tin Lizzy’s packed with an hour wait as well. Servers were all in great moods!
At Stella, I was impressed that Rich was personally clearing tables, and Melanie was running food. altmod is right, though; everyone was in great spirits, and it was wonderful to see great crowds everywhere (with many choosing to stop at the Standard for at least part of the night).
I went to the raging burritos new raging taco. Great turnout, cool spot and an excellent cause. There needs to be more community action that gets so many people in atl and decatur so engaged. This was impressive!
