Boswell Gallery Closes Downtown Decatur Location

    Decatur Metro | August 19, 2008

Andrea at Decatur eLife tipped off David over at InDecatur to this recent closing.  A check of the gallery’s blog confirms that Boswell has indeed shuttered up its Ponce Place gallery.

Oh WOW, I am so sorry that the Boswell Gallery is gone. It was a quality gallery with a quality guy who owned and operated it. Elliot was always a boost to the downtown area with his attitude and his taste level. As another downtown business owner (gallery/custom framing), I will miss his presence.

Man, I feel bad; I have been wanting to go for ever, but whenever I was in the vicinity, it was for something else or the gallery was not open. I never stopped in. Now it’s gone and I’ve missed my chance. :-( All the feedback I’ve heard about the place and the proprietor were very positive, it’s a real shame to see them close. I wonder what prompted them to shut down?

This is terrible. That was a great little gallery and Elliot was a really nice guy. Decatur has lost a good one.

I just discovered this as I was trying to look up some information on this place! It was a great gallery and Elliot was just the most wonderful event host ever. We had a non-profit do there and he was very helpful and accomodating, and it was an awesome venue to be at. Decatur will miss Boswell…

A great gallery, and much missed; we visited the gallery on our annual visit to GA from OH and purchased a number of works by Liz Williams; Elliot had excellent taste and an impressive group of artists.
