Scott Boulevard Church Redevelopment Approved, Site Work Could Begin Late Summer

    Decatur Metro | April 23, 2014 | 9:45 am

The Medlock Area Neighborhood Association website reports…

The BOC and ZBA approved Fuqua Development’s application to rezone and the variances required to redevelop the SBBC site and nearby residential properties on Barton Way. This vote clears the way for Phase 1, to include apartments and townhomes and a “coffee shop.” There was no opposition to the application and the BOC voted to accept the request with conditions negotiated by the Cross-Neighborhoods Committee*. Relevant Cross-Neighborhood Committee documents are available in pdf format: letters of support to the BOC and ZBA, conditions, and schematics.

According to the site, the Cross-Neighborhood committee also negoiated a legally-binding agreement that result in Fuqua “finishing pedestrian improvements at the Medlock / North Decatur Rd. / Scott Blvd. intersection as well as a future sidewalk on Scott Boulevad  between Willow Lane and Medlock Road”

The project is slated to commence with site work in August or September of this year.

New Mixed Use Development Planned for Scott Boulevard Baptist Church Site

    Decatur Metro | February 17, 2014 | 11:50 am

The Medlock Area Neighborhood Association website has a new, extensive post by the “Cross Neighborhoods Committee” detailing a new plan from Fuqua Development to develop the site as…

“a walkable, new urbanism-inspired development that includes a 5-story (250 unit) apartment building angled into the corner of North Decatur Road and Scott Boulevard (Figure 2). The building features high quality materials and was designed to maintain a landmark presence on the corner. The building will include 2,000 square feet of street-front retail space on North Decatur Road, which will house a neighborhood-oriented space such as a coffee shop.  This development will also include a parking deck for tenants with a small portion of parking allocated to serve the commercial space.”

In addition, the committee lists a series of conditions and off-site improvements which have been part of the discussion with Fuqua if the plan were to move forward and the committee decided to support the plan.  (They are waiting for neighborhood feedback before deciding.)  According to the post the list of conditions/improvements include, but are not limited to:

Community Meeting to Discuss Scott Boulevard Baptist Church Proposed Development – Monday July 8th

    Decatur Metro | June 27, 2013 | 8:55 am

The Medlock Area Neighborhood Association sends out this announcement…

The community meeting for the proposed development at Scott Blvd. Baptist Church will be held Monday, July 8th at Scott Blvd Church (2532 N Decatur Rd Decatur, GA 30033) at 7pm. http://www.medlockpark.org/2013/06/pre-application-meeting-for-proposed.html

MANA has posted the very preliminary plans that were presented to us at a small meeting called by Commissioner Rader on Monday night. http://www.medlockpark.org/2013/06/fuqua-development-ideas-for-scott-blvd.html

Neighbors, please mark your calendars to attend. A strong turnout from the community will help to hammer home our concerns regarding traffic and the 6 way intersection.
