Marco’s Pizza “Coming Soon” to North McDonough
Decatur Metro | October 21, 2015 | 3:04 pmA sign hung on the side of the old Books Again building along North McDonough states that a Marco’s Pizza would “soon” be occupying the space. A look at their website confirms it.
Marco’s is headquartered in Toledo, OH according to its website and is “the fastest-growing pizza company in the U.S. (based on the number of stores signed into development since 2007).” with 500 stores.
There are already many Marco’s locations around Atlanta, with neighboring locations in Virginia Highland and Toco Hills.

Between this, Grind House, Chik Fil A, and the Waffle House, there’s really no reason to keep having a DHS school cafeteria. Institute off-campus privileges, fill the cafeteria with classrooms, and rebate the savings back to we the people!
Walking by today, I overheard one of the workers at the Waffle House site tell someone that the opening would be mid-December, for what it’s worth.
North, not South, McDonough
I IZ THE WORZT. To quote the internet of 2009.
Cool. If they make it high school student friendly they might just have a hit on their hands!
They have a location close to the intersection of Briarcliff and Lavista, not at Toco Hills Shopping Center.
And no, that intersection is not generically referred by anyone as Toco Hills. If anything it is in Lavista Hills, part of the proposed city of North Druid Hills.
Which does not include Druid Hills, the residential area immediately southwest of Emory U.

YES!!!! our usual take out is Savage Pizza but sometimes you want the options of a big chain. Marco’s is the only chain that’s decent.
Not that I wouldn’t mind another pizza place, but I think our market is already quite saturated:
Sapori di Napoli (my favorite)
Savaga Pizza
Fellini’s
Da Vinci’s
Athen’s Pizza
Slice & Pint
And this doesn’t include the regular chains like Papa John’s, Little Ceasar’s, Domino’s, etc.
Some people prefer cheaper options than the ones you mention, yet better than the big 3 (or 4).
Side rant – I have noticed more and more people in this city have lost sight of the fact that not everyone around them has the same disposable income as they do. Not everyone lives in the same bubble you do (not you in particular Don)!!
“…that not everyone around them has the same disposable income as they do.”
Preach it, brother.
I might also add, “not everyone around around them has the same buying habits as they do.” Remember the $15 chicken?
No, I completely understand where you are coming from. I would consider Fellini’s to be relatively cheaper than the other options. And I definitely understand the disparity between people concerning disposable income. We definitely don’t go out often for higher end pizza (and even venture to Little Ceasar’s since it is the closest).
To each their own, I am certainly not complaining about having a Marco’s, just concerned about viability long term (wanting to make sure the places that go in will last).
You left off Avondale Pizza Cafe
Dissin’ the southside. Mojo and Avellino’s represent!
Just putting it on the record that I leaked Marco’s Pizza’s plans here several months ago when I picked up a groupon for the joint based on the fact that it had a location on North Mcdonough. Unfortunately, the groupon expires in a few days.
