Queen Latifah Reflects on ‘The Equalizer’ After CBS Cancellation
The journey of CBS’ The Equalizer has come to an end after five successful seasons, and Queen Latifah, both the star and executive producer of the show, expressed her deep appreciation for the experience.
Queen Latifah shared her sentiments on Instagram following the announcement from CBS that the crime drama would not be returning. She reminisced about her role as Robyn, stating, “Taking on the dynamic role of Robyn was everything I could have wished for. At Flavor Unit, Shakim and I are passionate about developing these types of characters and projects — our hope is always that they resonate with you as much as they do with us. The Equalizer exceeded all our expectations, and it’s been a surreal experience to be part of this for five seasons.”
In her tribute, she continued, “A huge thank you goes out to our incredible cast, crew, producers, and writers! And the FANS — your loyalty, enthusiasm, and unwavering support have been incredible. You are the reason we do what we do, and we can’t thank you enough. It means everything to us. And don’t worry — I’ll be back soon in a new role, ready to kick ass again. I’m excited to bring you along on the next adventure.”

About ‘The Equalizer’
Debuting in 2021, The Equalizer offered a fresh take on the classic series originally led by Edward Woodward, featuring Queen Latifah as the lead character, Robyn McCall. Described as a mysterious woman with a complex past, McCall uses her skills from her former life as a CIA operative to assist those in desperate need. To most, she appears as an ordinary single mother quietly raising her teenage daughter. However, to a select few, she is known as The Equalizer—an unheralded champion and protector of the oppressed, also seeking personal redemption.
The series boasted a talented ensemble cast including Tory Kittles as Detective Marcus Dante, Adam Goldberg as the brilliant hacker Harry Keshegian, Liza Lapira playing the role of bar owner and sniper Melody “Mel” Bayani, Laya DeLeon Hayes as Robyn’s daughter Delilah, and Lorraine Toussaint portraying Robyn’s aunt, Viola “Vi” Marsette. With the show’s cancellation, the upcoming season finale on Sunday at 10/9c will now act as the final episode of the series.
