The End of the Line for ‘The Bondsman’
It appears that the journey for the supernatural series The Bondsman, starring Kevin Bacon, was briefer than expected. According to TVLine, Prime Video has decided not to renew the series for a second season.
Kevin Bacon portrayed the character Hub Halloran, a bounty hunter whose life takes a drastic turn when he is killed while on duty. Unexpectedly resurrected, Hub is tasked with the mission of tracking down and returning demons that have fled from hell to their infernal origins. The show premiered its entire first season, consisting of eight episodes, on April 3 on Prime Video.
Kevin Bacon shared his feelings about the cancellation on Instagram, expressing his disappointment and gratitude. “Really bummed out that The Bondsman is not coming back for a second season,” he commented in a video posted on Sunday. “I just really loved walking in Hub Halloran’s shoes, making that show with so many great, talented people, making that music. I wish I had an explanation for you, but I honestly don’t. But for those of you who checked it out and wrote so many sweet comments — and there were a lot of you — I just want to say thanks. It means a lot to me. And, you know, I guess that’s the way it goes.”

Behind the Scenes of ‘The Bondsman’
The series was a creation of Blumhouse Television, conceptualized by Grainger David. Erik Oleson, known for his work on shows like Arrow and Carnival Row, took the helm as the showrunner. The cast was bolstered by notable names including Jolene Purdy from The White Lotus, Beth Grant of The Mindy Project fame, Jennifer Nettles known for her role in The Righteous Gemstones, Maxwell Jenkins from Lost in Space, and Damon Herriman of Justified.
In addition to their acting roles, Bacon, David, and Oleson also served as executive producers alongside Jason Blum, Jeremy Gold, Chris Dickie, and Chris McCumber from Blumhouse Television, with Paul E. Shapiro. Erik Holmberg was involved as a co-executive producer, contributing to the show’s development and execution.
Despite the series’ innovative concept and star-studded team, the journey of The Bondsman concludes with its first season, leaving fans and its ensemble cast to bid farewell to a unique narrative that blended elements of action, supernatural intrigue, and drama.
