Fans of The Traitors, it’s time for you to engage in some crafty deception yourself.

NBC is set to broadcast a version of the popular reality competition featuring solely non-celebrity contestants, as per TVLine’s reports. Unlike the celebrity-laden episodes of The Traitors that viewers have come to expect on the streaming service Peacock, the new iteration will welcome ordinary viewers into the fray, with Alan Cumming reprising his role as the host. This approach aligns with international versions of the show in the UK and Australia, which also feature regular citizens as contenders.

Production for the NBC adaptation is scheduled to begin next year. Those who are keen to join as contestants can throw their hats in the ring by applying at TheTraitorsUS.com. The website is on the lookout for "smart, strategic everyday people to compete in the ultimate game of trust & treachery," offering a lucrative chance to win as much as $250,000.

“We’re thrilled to tap into The Traitors‘ devoted fanbase as we scout for the next wave of formidable players and cunning strategists,” said Sharon Vuong, NBCUniversal Entertainment’s executive vice president of unscripted programming. With Alan Cumming at the helm to guide a new roster of participants through daring missions and manipulative game twists, this fresh NBC version presents a unique chance for cast and viewers to interact like never before, promising an enthralling viewing experience.

For those new to the concept, The Traitors transports its contestants to an isolated Scottish castle, where a select few are covertly named “traitors.” These traitors are charged with covertly “murdering” a fellow contestant nightly. Meanwhile, the rest of the group, known as the “faithful,” have the power to eliminate suspected traitors through a nightly vote at the round table. The game ends with the remaining faithful splitting the prize money if they successfully oust all traitors. However, if any traitor is left standing, they claim all the winnings.

Since its debut in the Netherlands in 2021, The Traitors has launched over 30 international versions. The U.S. edition premiered on Peacock in 2023, with its inaugural season blending reality TV stars like Survivor‘s Cirie Fields with non-celebrity players, although subsequent seasons have focused solely on celebrity contestants. The show quickly became a hit on Peacock, even snagging an Emmy for best reality competition last year.

The fourth season of The Traitors is anticipated to launch on Peacock early next year, featuring personalities such as former Real Housewife Lisa Rinna, actor Michael Rapaport, and football mom Donna Kelce. Additionally, the show has been greenlit for a fifth season.
