So is this just a rebranded Badda Bing or is this a truly something new? I’m guessing it’s not yet open?

If this is close to the cuban street food I grew up with — can’t wait!

Agree that this sounds yummy whatever it is. But why do you think it’s Cuban vs. any other Latin food? Isn’t there street food in most Latin countries?

Strange that it’s going in across the street from the new Mexican restaurant.

Not so strange if it does turn out to be Cuban food (*fingers crossed*)–completely different cuisines!

When I saw the sign, I immediately thought of corn on a stick and chili mango on a stick. Latino cuisines in general do food on a stick better than we do.

But i’d love a Cuban. I could use a batido.

            Mmmmmm…especially a coconut-guava one!

        What Cubalibre said.

[insert rant about how Latin America is not a monolith]

I hope they have maduros. Om nom nom.

Cuban, Latin, whatever. It’s all Greek to me.

          :-D ‘Preciate that, Coco!

      Cafecito? Buzzzzzzzz……

“Latina” infers that it would be Latin American influenced.

Why did she make that inference? :)

Michael Condon, the owner of Badda Bing, is responsible for it and the focus will be Colombian street food, with a strong emphasis and much effort placed on authenticity.
Sounds like it’s a couple week’s out right now

Colombian food?? YASSSSS. I am so here for that. How exciting to have it a stone’s throw away from home. If I’d ever taken my mother up on her many pleas to teach me to cook, I’d have it AT home. But oh well.

I hope they have arepas (and maduros).

        February 5, 2013 at 10:41 am

Hey, not Cuban, but still awesome–can’t wait! We’re actually gonna have Indian & Columbian food within walking distance (and thank heaven, because I’ll need to walk as much as I can with all these tasty options springing up)!

Do we know when it opens?

    7. brianc says:
      February 5, 2013 at 9:54 am

I hope it really is street food, i.e. stuff you can get to go and eat while walking or sitting on a bench on the square.

Opens in weeks, not months. I’ll post more when the website goes up. Everything is already licensed as Badda bing, I believe, so the permit process should not be a factor.

Thanks everyone for your interest in Calle Latina. We’re looking forward to opening soon. The menu focuses on food from Latin America, including empanadas, arepas, tacos, dulces and more. We’ll be using seasonal ingredients and everything will be food truck style, meaning you can take it to go. If there’s a food you’d love to see us feature, let me know and we’ll see what we can do.
