    Houndstooth Road Bicycle Shop Closing

    Decatur Metro | September 15, 2014 | 1:19 pm

Decaturish reports that Houndstooth Road, the specialty bike shop on Church Street, is closing its doors.

The shop opened back in 2012.

This is a real bummer, that is/was a very nice shop.

I hope that he is just moving to another location –

      Agreed. This sucks. Classy shop.

I have enjoyed seeing a couple of the Danish (also Dutch?) style Cargo Bikes around Decatur during my bike commutes. I am presuming they were bought there. And though I only wandered in a couple of times, it was nice to have a place to browse accessories/clothing/fashion (the only other example I know of is The Spindle, and the clothing/accessories that they carry is quite different).

This is pure speculation by me, but I would think of it as more of a destination shop for certain afficionados, thus no need for the high rent of their existing location. In fact, if they are still maintaining a retail presence and opened up next door to The Spindle, it might be a win-win for both.

Sign on door says stay tuned since they are relocating. Didn’t say where.
