    Mayor’s on the Move

    Decatur Metro | June 20, 2011

Some of you have noted in comments that Mayor Bill Floyd’s house has had a “For Sale” sign out front for a couple weeks, and more recently has an “Under Contract” sign slapped on top of it.

Mayor Floyd confirms that he and his wife are trying to sell their West Ponce house and plan on downsizing.  In his words “Happened a lot quicker than we thought.  We have our eye on another house in town with no yard and smaller.”

    In District #1, no doubt!

      Well we’re movin on up,
      To the east side.
To a deluxe apartment in the sky.
      Movin on up,
      To the east side.
We finally got a piece of the pie.

Smart move. We’re there as soon as kids stop playing in the yard. Lots of people find yard and garden work rewarding and therapeutic. That would not be us.

We bought a house in Village Walk. It still had a little patch in the back to mow, so I bought 500 SF of flagstone, then gave the mower away.

Does anyone know who lives in the house across the street from St. Thomas More? That is the REAL mayor’s house.

I was wondering the same thing! My husband and I used to tell our out-of-town guests that it was the mayor’s house because we really thought it was!

I heard, when it was being built, it was owned by a pilot and his partner (and no, not Elton John and his former pilot boyfriend! :)
