Cocker Spaniel/Golden Lost Near Oakhurst

Decatur Metro | May 22, 2011

An employee at a local animal shelter asked me to post info on this 14 year-old pup who was lost between Oakhurst Village and Kirkwood Village earlier today.

Answers to Clementine. This little old lady is hard of hearing. At first glance she appears to be a puppy but actually she’s a 14 year old dog in good health. She is mostly gold with a tuft of white hair on her chest and mostly white belly. She’s generally happy but trembles if scared. My have been found accompanied by a young, grey wiemaraner named olive.

If you’ve seen Clementine, the owner’s contract info can be found HERE.

Decatur Rec Center Staff Starting Temporary Move to Beacon Hill Monday

Decatur Metro | May 22, 2011

Decatur’s Assistant Director of Active Living, Cheryl Burnette writes in…

Decatur Recreation Starting Move to Beacon Hill on Monday

The Decatur Recreation Center will begin the move to the Temporary Rec  Center location at Beacon Hill, behind the Decatur Police Station on Monday, May 23  in preparation for our  renovation. We will experience a temporary outage in our phone and internet services of approximately one hour during the transfer on Monday morning.

All camps and sports registration, etc.  will be at the new site, located at 430 W Trinity Place beginning Monday afternoon.

All after-school programming, exercise and regular Rec  Center activities will continue at Decatur Rec on Sycamore Street through Friday, May 27th. After that date, the Sycamore Street location will be closed to the public and our regular programming will be at Beacon Hill.

Summer camps will begin on Tuesday, May 31 at the Temporary Beacon Hill Location.

We look forward to serving the community from our Temporary Rec Center.

Beacon Hill is surely in need of some upgrades, but this sounds like a slightly better temporary location than the old meat-packing facility where city hall staff holed up while city hall was under renovation!

Missing: Most Interesting Man in the World

Decatur Metro | May 22, 2011

Michelle writes in…

Prom must’ve been a good party, b/c The Most Interesting Man In the World was absconded with near the end of the night (ok, his life size stand up figure). The Matador kindly lent him to us for the event, and we seek his return!

His phrase for the night was “While I don’t always dance, when I do, I prefer Decatur Adult Prom!”

Now he prefers to head back to his home at Matodor- no questions asked!
