Anyone know if Rec Center closing affects Rec Center playground? This is one of the few shaded playgrounds in town and a crucial spot in the summer for those of us trying to keep kids entertained and out of the punishing sun.

I have been told by several people that is was an A&P, but I wasn’t around here then, so I can’t confirm or deny. I have also been told that Twain’s was the Goodyear shop, but Firestone is similar, so it could have been that.

Steve, Twain’s was a Firestone store and a Sherwin Williams paint store. I’ll have to dig deep in the memory bank to remember if it was a Firestone originally. The building housing the temp City Hall was the DeKalb (meat) Locker (not affiliated with DeKalb County) before it was the DeKalb Physical Plant. I don’t remember the A&P. I remember as a kid seeing whole sides of beef hanging on the loading dock as they were being delivered.
