for real?
I think this is awesome. You can do a ten minute video on the chemistry of organic tomatoes that no one except the converted ever sees or you can be clever and have fun and make something that takes off in crazy directions. More power to ‘em.
Plus, English farm girls are kinda hot.
RE: “Plus, English farm girls are kinda hot.” Hmm….the farm boys were even more numerous and pretty hot too. But, the hip tractor is my favorite followed by the owl followed by the cows, the true stars.
So what’s the Yeo Valley and how does it relate to the classic English term “yeoman”?
I gon’t think they are etymologically linked, although they sure look like they should be.
Wikipedia gives this etymology to yeoman: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yeoman
and this for River Yeo: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Yeo
Are you a word person, Karass?
I guess I am. But I don’t have a dictionary app on my phone!
On a serious note, if people would visit a typical dairy in the US, they would never eat or drink non- organic dairy products again. Cows in high-production dairies only leave the barn to go to the milking parlor, no grazing in idyllic pastures. They stand around all day in their own poop and pee which gets washed down every now and then. Nasty places.
Chicken coops and meatpacking plants are pretty upsetting too.
That is one of the ways our factory farms produce way more milk, with way fewer cows then a generation ago in the non-factory farm era. The poor cows are attached to a machine that pumps them almost constantly until they are used up, and then they are killed to make big macs. That is why I refuse to drink any milk. Go soy. For ethical reasons.
In my opinion, organic cow milk is better health-wise than soy milk. You might want to read some of the information cautioning against “too much soy,” especially unfermented soy products. Almost every packaged food I pick up these days has soy constituents as well as “high fructose corn syrup”. Urk!
I grew up in serious dairy country in Virginia, and some of what is stated here is not uniformly true. Maybe true for some farms, but it is an oversweeping generalization to say that this is typical for non-organic production. Farms I knew milked their cows twice a day. Sure, the holsteins were in the barn during the milking, but otherwise they were out grazing in the sunshine or rain and enjoying the same views and fresh air as the rest of us. In fact, our wedding reception was held outside, and for the city dwellers in attendance, the cows grazing on the surrounding hillsides stole the show – I can’t recall how many folks mentioned that as a highlight of the event!
