Radial Cafe Under New Management
Decatur Metro | October 18, 2010 | 9:51 am
What Now, Atlanta? reports that Frank Bragg, former director of communications at Metrotainment Cafes, has taken over ownership of Radial Cafe along DeKalb Avenue at the edge of Candler Park, as the previous owner Phil Palmer is moving to London.
According to What Now, the new owner plans to maintain the cafe’s renowned green policies, but diners should expect “big local flavors to characterize Frank’s style”.
Metrotainment is the owner of other local eateries like Einstein’s, Joe’s on Juniper, Cowtippers, and Garrison’s.

Please, please, please don’t change things too much.
I’m in total agreement with you and Marco. There is a specific and unique culture/philosophy and culinary aesthetic (the specific types of cusine/dishes served) that is Radial’s alone. It’s what I and any other die hard fans of Radial love about it. And I don’t want to see it changed.
I like Metrotainment…but their culture/aesthetic is totally different from Radial’s and I don’t want to see Radial become another ‘chain’ like establishment similar to all their other restaurants.
Fantastic news. They needed a breath of fresh air there.
I too hope Radial doesn’t change much! it’s our favorite brunch place and we will miss Phil!
Simple post, with a simple prediction (based on experiences at the other Metrotainment restaurants in Atlanta):
In 1 year’s time crowds will be large, but completely different than the folks going there now, and the premises will become dirtier than you could imagine for a restaurant. Sorry to see this place “go”.
Frank used to work at Metrotainment, but no longer does. This is his own restaurant. Get with the program sisters!
PS To clarify what I meant by “different,” I simply meant a less local vibe and a clientele who was less concerned with organic, local, or any of the other buzzwords of healthy/sustainable eating. The cleanliness standard was meant to apply to the state of the facility, and not, of course, of the new customers.
Interested to see how things turn out. I have found the food at Radial to be on a bit of a downward spiral over the past 6-9 months.
I also wouldn’t mind a reconsideration of those $2.50 coffees and $3.50 orange juices. Really amps your check total.
Will miss Phil–enthusiastic, green, generous. . . .
I’ve always loved the space and the green policies at the Radial, but not so much the food. I’ll be excited to see them try something new there.
Always wanted to like Radial…went there for lunch and brunch many times…but just never could really endorse it nor look forward to going back. Interested now to hear of the change!
