    DM T-Shirt Quips

    Decatur Metro | January 13, 2010

Dare I ask, but if you were tasked with coming up with a snarky/clever/humorous quip that would appear on the back of a Decatur Metro t-shirt, what would it be?

The only slightly amusing statements I’ve dreamed up with thus far are  “Caution: I’ve Been Moderated” & “I Enjoy Fighting With My Neighbors” or inside jokes like “Decatur – There’s a Festival For That”, “If you don’t like it, move.” and something yet to be written with the words “sustainable” and/or “zombies” in it.

I really like the one you mentioned – “Decatur, There’s a Festival For That”. :)

Something about “So close, it’s only 45 minutes to anywhere by car!” might work.

      Zombies–sustainable humans.

Where people complain about good schools.

      Decatur–it’s around the Brick Store.

On both sides of the tracks.

      Guinness?

Pull up some of the suggested Decatur slogans from the long thread at the end of last year like you liked and have folks vote on it.

Decatur related ones are a good possibility, but I’m also looking for some that are site related. Even better if they hint at what the site is all about. And they’re funny.

        A tall order.

But yes, I did look through the “Describe Decatur in 6 Words” thread and there were a lot of good ones in there.

Kids running amok. Parents drinking up.

Runners and strollers stay off the street or I’ll run you over in my Prius. (Or Subaru or Saab.)

Where Atlanta hipsters go to procreate.

We eat. We drink. We bitch.

      I love the DFM, but…

LOL…I hope Atlanta hipsters aren’t procreating on this website.

I guess a few of those fit better into the Decatur in six words category.

I like these two very much:

“If you don’t like it, move.”

“Decatur, There’s a Festival For That”

Proud Sponsor of the 2010 Grackle Festival.

I like “Decatur.. There’s a Festival for That” the most though.

I wish we could get sponsored portolets for the grackles. They do leave a mess behind.

I really like “Decatur.. There’s a Festival for That”

or “Home of the Friday Free-for-All”

    17. mcmillend says:
      January 14, 2010 at 8:06 am

(I know it’s written Free-for-All Friday, but somehow saying it Friday Free-for-All sounded better as a t-shirt quip to me.)

Off the 6-word post, I also like
“Community of Friendly People Anonymously Malevolent”

    18. smalltowngal says:
      January 14, 2010 at 8:34 am

      “Is it Free-for-All Friday yet?”
“DM Rules! (in a moderate way)”
“Taking the ‘dis’ out of discussion”
      “Threadjack at your own risk”

      • Scott says:

“Taking the ‘dis’ out of discussion” — STG, this is golden.

I seem to have awakened to a treasure trove of quips!

Lots of really great ones here, though I’m beginning to note that Russ and Dave’s collaborative effort: “Decatur – there’s a festival for that!” is the crowd favorite.

If you think of anymore, throw them on the pile!

    20. fifi says:
      January 14, 2010 at 11:27 am

      I love Decatur – there’s a festival for that.

maybe you could do an additional shirt , too – for us old timers :

on the front : Decatur – there’s a festival for that

on the back: Just don’t park in front of my house ?

    21. fifi says:
      January 14, 2010 at 11:29 am

edit – didn’t mean to have that question mark – poor typing skills.

Decatur – there’s blog for that!

      • Decatur Metro says:

Love it! Now if only “blog” wasn’t such a dirty word. ;-)

    23. JC says:
      January 14, 2010 at 3:40 pm

Hmmm, good ideas so far. Here’s a few more t-shirt logo ideas. How about:

“Who is Decatur Metro” or “I am Decatur Metro”

“I hooked up with a zoning snob on Decatur Metro”

“Decatur Metro: The power behind the power”

      “Yes we can Decatur…Metro”

      • Decatur Metro says:
        January 14, 2010 at 5:06 pm

I’m thinking a “I am Decatur Metro” onesie.

      How about:
