Clothing Store Replaces Eviva
Decatur Metro | December 13, 2009My wife confirms my weeks-old, peak-through-the-window hunch that a new clothing store had taken over the Eviva space in the 335 building.
The new shop is now open to the general public. However she can’t recall whether the sign said “Style Revolutions” or “Clothing Revolutions”.
Hope they do okay in this economy!
I remember months ago the knitting shop in the same building on the corner seemed like it was going under, even with signs saying they were just going online or something…now the shop seems alive and well, which is great!…just wondering what happened. Did we get a sudden influx of knitters in Decatur?
Good for them though!
I am glad you pointed this out. DM would be surprised to learn Baby Nell and I walk all over the place when we aren’t mowing down errant pedestrians. I noticed that and wondered why the heck the store front was still there!
I’m pretty sure the story was that one of the regulars at the old shop, took over the space and kept it a knitting store.
I went in to Sheepish or whatever the knitting store is called and bought some wool. They seemed pretty established and didn’t respond to my oblique hints as to why they hadn’t closed as advertised. I love this store both in its first incarnation and now this one. I hope it keeps going. When you need more yarn or needles or a crochet hook, you don’t want to wait for UPS to deliver your on-line purchase.
Yes, they used to be Neese’s Needlework which was a long-standing Decatur business that unfortunately had to close its doors. Now it’s Sheepish, which is an adorable name for a yarn shop and the owner is terrific! http://www.sheepish.biz/
Nease’s Needlework did close their storefront operation to become an online only business.
The space is now occupied by a yarn store called Sheepish. The current owner(s) – not sure if it is one or more -did buy some of of Nease’s remaining inventory but Sheepish is a completely different entity. I think there was about a 2 week period when the store front was closed entirely during the transition from Nease’s to Sheepish.
Nease’s had supplies for all sorts of needle crafts – cross stitch, hooked rugs, and needlepoint as well as knit and crochet. Sheepish focuses on knit and crochet . They have a nice selection of yarns and they offer a number of classes.
On a somewhat related note, I just noticed that Pamsbili has a “Moving Sale” sign up, and that the DressCodes space is still unoccupied.
My crankster teens visited the aforementioned clothing store Saturday and reported that it was carrying “name brands” aka name brands that they were familar with, like Abercrombie and Fitch … and Charlotte Russe (for those who still have babes in diapers, that’s the UMMM… less expensive alternative to AF.) So I’m thinking, this is going to be geared to our teens/young adults.
