Wahoo! Grill Receives Bomb Threat on Sunday

    Decatur Metro | December 14, 2009

UPDATE: From Decatur PD’s Assistant Chief Keith Lee…

Officers responded to the Wahoo Grill in reference to a reported bomb threat. Decatur Fire Department, and both MARTA Police and DeKalb County Police K-9/explosive disposal units were notified and advised of the incident. The business was evacuated and Decatur police officers along with staff members conducted a search of the restaurant with negative results. The scene was released to the management without further action.

    Ed writes in…

FYI – someone called in a bomb threat to the Wahoo Grill around 130 pm on Sunday while my wife and I were having brunch. I really appreciate the calm way Wahoo’s management handled the situation. Unfortunately they had to clear the restaurant. The Decatur police were arriving as we left.

I’m trying to get my hands on some more details. Stay tuned.

The owner of Wahoo used to manage Dark Horse. Pam is tough and I have no doubt she/her staff handled it smoothly!

Motive? Strange. Restaurants aren’t usually bomb threat targets, are they? Employee needing evening off? Disgruntled customer?

Maybe the no sweet tea war has escalated?

Yeah, you’d have to serve a *really* badly cooked piece of fish to get that kind of response.

Are we sure it wasn’t just a Jager Bomb? Wahoo has always seemed a bit classy for that kind of drink, but you never know.

Update from the Assistant Chief of Police above.

WTF? That’s really….random. Of all the possible places to receive a bomb threat (fake or otherwise), Wahoo seems pretty low on the list.

Then again, this is Decatur. Maybe they served someone a piece of sea bass. (GET IT? Because it’s unsustainably fished! Oh never mind…)

OK, the update is either from Deputy Chief Keith Lee or Chief Mike Booker, unless one of them has hybridized themselves. DM knows better.

        Keith Lee.

        Haste makes…

Don’t demote Lee. He’s the Deputy Chief, not Assistant Chief.
