    2008 DM Trivia

    Decatur Metro | January 2, 2009

A couple Decatur Metro trivia questions as we leave 2008 behind…

    1. Which Decatur Metro post received the most hits in 2008?

    2. Which Decatur Metro post had the most comments in 2008?

Keep in mind that for a specific post to receive a “hit”, it must be clicked on specifically – not just read off the main page. That means that posts with comments usually receive more hits. However, posts that are externally linked to a lot or wind up at the top of a Google search also receive a good number of “hits”.

That said, a couple of hints: the answers to questions 1 and 2 are different and both were mentioned in my year-end summary.

    Any guesses?

I think this Farmer’s Market business takes the cake with the most comments. Sheesh!

Hmmm…good guess, Lain, and well-expressed! Sheesh, indeed. However, I guess that the most-commented upon subject has got to be related to schools.

      annexation

I bet hits was the water boiling situation. I am going to go with 315 for comments.

All good guesses, but Mermaid comes closest with one correct and one very close to correct.

With 79, “Zoning Board Tables 315 W. Ponce Variance” had the most comments in 2008. Surprisingly a thread with that many comments actually did a relatively good job of staying on topic.

The DeKalb Boil Water Advisory was another great guess. That’s actually #2 for number of hits in 2008. That post got a lot of traffic thru Google.

But no one has gotten #1 yet. Believe it or not, its not annexation or YDFM. If no one else gets it by tomorrow, I’ll let the cat out of the bag.

      Hint: Its restaurant related…

Parkers on Ponce and the issue with bringing kids to nice restaurants…?

    8. Flaka says:
      January 5, 2009 at 11:48 am

      Crescent Moon?

    9. Scott says:
      January 5, 2009 at 11:58 am

Do the hundreds of spam-posts generated for the Crescent Moon entry count? If so, I’d say it’s got to be the winner by a long shot.

      Ding ding ding!

Flaka takes home the bragging rights. Crescent Moon Staff Rebels was easily the top post of 2008, with over 4,000.

That post had everything: lots of updates from the disgruntled Crescent Moon staff, moderated comments, and a whole lot of spam. Also, that post was linked to by many blogs and message boards (like Atlanta Cuisine), so that helped the hit count.

      Thanks to everyone for playing!

And no Scott, lots of F-word spam doesn’t count!

    11. Flaka says:
      January 5, 2009 at 12:28 pm

Hey Scott, don’t try and detract from my magnificent victory with your comments about the spam! I won my new Decatur Metro t-shirt fair and square!

Decatur Metro, don’t worry, just kidding on the t-shirt (cool idea though)… I wouldn’t have guessed Crescent Moon without the tip it was restaurant related!

      Congrats Flaka!

Decatur Metro shirts would be kinda fun. Would you wear it?

DM, sure, I’d be happy to show my support of Decatur Metro by sporting a t-shirt around town – OK, maybe the weather needs to warm up a bit first though!
