This establishment is not a Decatur friendly business. They do not donate to local charitable events, or allow any sort of flyers to be placed in their business. Since they live and work here, they should give back to this community, but they do not. It is a suprise to see that they are donating something to any sort of organization, but I guess it’s a start.
Wow…wanna give any sort of detail with that insult and outrage Decatur Shopper?
Its not an insult, it’s true fact….ask anyone who has every volunteered to solicit businesses to give to local charitable organizations…..they give to no one, or anyone who has ever tried to market a local event by putting a flyer up or down on a counter. I still go there on occasion though. I mean them no harm, but folks should know. Many local businesses are extremely giving when asked, Watershed is not one of them.
Not so, Decatur Shopper. Watershed has, in the past, participated in the Decatur Wine Festival. They donated samples of the food they serve as do several restaurants every year. I solicited the contribution so I can present this as a fact.
Thats good to know, and thanks for that information and correcting me. Everyone I know who has ever asked them has been told no. Perhaps they donate to City of Decatur events only? I realize they may only donate to certain organizations, but I haven’t seen their name on the donation list at any event I have ever attended, and yes, I look. I do see many business names over and over again, and those are the ones I frequent the most.
How many upscale restaurants allow flyers in their windows or on their counters?
I don’t disagree with you on the flyers bit, however from the word I have heard, they are not nice about it. (And that may be the person being asked, not the way the management may have handled it) There is one way to say no, and then there is a polite way. The flyer part is what I’ve heard, the donation part I spoke about is out of personal experience, and many folks who have had the same result. I am glad that they do give to certain local organizations, so I stand corrected.
You must remember that our restaurants and businesses are getting hit up hard by a lot of schools, community groups and events. It is hard for them to say yes to too many of them.
It’s interesting to see how many comments are so off the mark and unequivocally stated. It happened, ad infinitum, on the ‘How’s Business’ string as well.
I was going off personal experience as well as what others have told me. I was treated rudely when soliciting for a not for profit local charity. It ticked me off. I was turned down nicely by many local businesses. Like I said before, I stand corrected, and realize it may have come from a rude employee and not from their business as a whole, plus I get that businesses can’t donate to everyone.
I’d also like to add that, when walking back there one day, I noticed that the neighborhood cats get a fine Scott Peacock dinner in the back of watershed. And I’m not talking about from the trash. They actually set food out for the stray cats that have no other source of food, and I think it’s great that they do this. I think that Watershed is a very good neighbor.
Just another two cents worth….I have worked on many local charity events/festivals/tours, etc. over the last ten years, and Watershed has NEVER sponsored, donated, etc. to ANY on which I participated as a fundraiser or publicity member. MANY MANY other restaurants who are far less famous donate over and over and over…WAHOO, Viola, FEAST,Ted’s Montana Grill, and most all the restaurants in Oakhurst.
So Decatur shopper is not that far off the mark. Watershed can certainly make it’s own decisions as to what to support and what not to support, but I do not see them as a big community supporter. It is what it is…
Thanks Jim, I knew someone reading this would agree with me.
Maybe if they started donating more they would get “Closer to Fine”?
Take my wife, please!
