Ty Pennington Gets a Better Offer
Decatur Metro | August 14, 2008According to the AJC’s Peach Buzz, Ty Pennington is backing out of his scheduled appearance at the Decatur Book Festival to appear on Oprah. Festival organizers are understandably upset.
Can’t say I’m personally that disappointed, but I can see why organizers would be. I’m sure he’d have been one of the biggest draws of the weekend.
But Pennington should know…Decatur never forgets! Boohahaha!
UPDATE: The official press release from the DBF (after the jump)hints at perhaps another big-name announcement in the next two weeks.
The AJC Decatur Book Festival Presented by DeKalb Medical is only 15 days away and the simmering excitement is beginning to boil over. Organizers have secured a phenomenal lineup for the third annual Labor Day weekend event, including keynote speaker Billy Collins, Kathy Reichs, Eric Jerome Dickey, John Dean, and many more.
As is prone to happen sometimes with festivals, there will be last minute changes and cancellations. Organizers recently received the unfortunate news that Ty Pennington, host of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” canceled his planned DBF appearance due to a scheduling conflict.
“This is an inconvenience because promotional materials such as the festival programs have already been printed, and this may create some confusion for attendees,” said Daren Wang, DBF Executive Director. “But we’re really looking forward to having Billy Collins, Kathy Reichs, and John Dean join us, along with the rest of our great lineup.”
Tom Bell, DBF Program Director, is optimistic. “We’re still talking to publishers. We may have some great news to announce within the next two weeks. Check the web site, www.decaturbookfestival.com, often for updates,” said Bell.
Organizers regret to inform DBF and Pennington fans of this development, but this does not diminish the superlative lineup the festival already has in place.
Understandable that the Fest folks would be upset. Personally, my feelings about his appearance….
ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz….
What a phoney!
From Oprah’s website…
The Oprah Winfrey Show taping schedule varies from week to week. There are no weekend tapings. A more specific list of available dates will be given to you by the audience department when you call
Darren you should sue! to recomp losses.
While I couldn’t care less about Pennington, or his appearance anywhere, I certainly hope the festival organizers had a tight enough contract to get some compensation from it.
I heard he cancelled because people were upset that the house his show did in Atlanta in 2005 was forclosed. That for his safety he cancelled.
Well if that is the case that is just stupid.
It’s foreclosure HAD nothing to do with him or the show…but the stupidity of the occupants.
I agree it’s not the show’s fault. I don’t know if the threats are true or not, but if my life was threatened I would stay out of the Atlanta area too. Safer in Chicago doing Oprah.
Who’s Ty Pennington?
I love watching reality shows where people are out to help the less fortunate. I have just read his history and know why I can’t stand him on extreme makovers. His screaming and yelling hard to watch so I skip the show. I do have the same disorder and have had no meds. I think Ty has to take more of his medication and try to tone himself down A WHOLE LOT. He is sickening to watch and listen to. I feel the show would be so much better to watch without his trastic nauseating uncontrolable screaming. Don’t think for a moment that your trastic constant big mouth makes you look any better than what you could be with a much more controled mouth. I know it would make you look and feel like more of a man of 43 than a 2 year old. Yes you have a problem but for crying outloud man tone it down.
