Joe Velasco’s Role Continues on SVU
Joe Velasco’s journey on Law & Order: SVU is set to continue, as Octavio Pisano is slated to appear in the premiere of Season 27, according to TVLine sources.
Pisano, who has been a regular cast member on the NBC drama from Season 23 to 26, made headlines with his departure announcement just before the Season 26 finale aired in May. In that finale, his character was elevated to Detective Second Grade, a milestone celebrated with a surprise party at a local bar by the team. The episode concluded with Captain Benson and her team, dressed in formal uniforms, attending the promotion ceremony.
Recently, Pisano was seen in a video shared on social media by the show and its lead actress, Mariska Hargitay. The clip, posted last Thursday, captures Pisano alongside Peter Scanavino, Hargitay, Kevin Kane, and Aimé Donna Kelly, who has been newly promoted to a regular on the series, as they rehearse a scene for the upcoming season opener.

Juliana Aidén Martinez, known for her role as Detective Kate Silva in Season 26, has also exited the show. She has since joined the cast of CBS’ FBI as a regular and will not be returning to SVU.
SVU is scheduled to air on Thursdays at 9/8c this fall, following Law & Order at 8 PM and preceding The Hunting Party at 10 PM.
