Anticipate “The Rainmaker” Series this August
Mark your calendars for the arrival of The Rainmaker on USA Network, scheduled for a summer release on Friday, August 15 at 10/9c. Fans will also have the opportunity to stream episodes on Peacock a week subsequent to their initial broadcast on USA.
Accompanying the announcement of the premiere date, a teaser trailer and the first set of images were unveiled.
A Fresh Face in Legal Drama
Adapted from John Grisham’s popular 1995 book, The Rainmaker introduces viewers to Rudy Baylor (portrayed by Milo Callaghan of Rivals), a novice lawyer, as he confronts seasoned courtroom adversary Leo Drummond (played by John Slattery of Mad Men), and navigates complexities with his law school sweetheart, Sarah (portrayed by Madison Iseman from I Know What You Did Last Summer).

Rudy, together with his employer, J. Lyman “Bruiser” Stone (played by Parrilla of Once Upon a Time), and a disorganized paralegal named Deck (P.J. Byrne of The Boys), delve into two intertwined conspiracies linked to the enigmatic demise of a client’s son.
The show features a talented ensemble including Dan Fogler from The Goldbergs, Wade Briggs of Foundation, and Robyn Cara known for Trying.
Revisiting a Classic Story
The 1997 movie version directed by Francis Ford Coppola featured Matt Damon as Rudy, Jon Voight as Drummond, Mickey Rourke as Bruiser, and Danny DeVito as Deck, with Claire Danes as Rudy’s romantic interest.
Showrunner Michael Seitzman expressed his fascination with the story’s enduring appeal in a statement. He suggested that the allure might stem from its David-and-Goliath courtroom battles, the perilous romance, or the protagonist’s personal growth. He emphasized, “For me, it’s primarily about the characters. They leapt from the pages in John’s novel and adapting them for our series has been incredibly rewarding. Plus, Milo Callaghan’s portrayal of Rudy Baylor is sure to win hearts.”
The series is backed by a robust team of executive producers including John Grisham himself, Patrick Moran, Jason Richman, David Gernert, and Jason Blum, promising a high-caliber production.
