Outlander: Blood of My Blood Renewed for Season 2 Ahead of Series Premiere

Starz is continuing its journey through historical Scotland.

The channel has announced a second season for the forthcoming series Outlander: Blood of My Blood, even before its first season has premiered this summer, as TVLine reports.

The first season of the prequel is set to launch on Friday, August 8, at 9/8c.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood explores the lives of Jamie’s parents, Scots Ellen MacKenzie (portrayed by Pennyworth‘s Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Condor’s Nest‘s Jamie Roy), alongside Claire’s parents, English natives Julia Moriston (We Hunt Together‘s Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Treadstone‘s Jeremy Irvine). According to the series synopsis, "The show will weave together two romantic tales from distinct historical periods—the early 18th-century Scottish Highlands for Jamie’s parents, and WWI-era England for Claire’s parents."

“The dedication and creativity our cast and crew have invested in Outlander: Blood of My Blood are remarkable, and we’re excited to extend these magnificent romantic narratives into a second season," showrunner and executive producer Matthew B. Roberts expressed in a statement. "Just as the audience adored Jamie and Claire, we anticipate they will become equally attached to these new couples when they are introduced this summer."

Production for the second season is kicking off today in Scotland.
