Passing of Uche Ojeh, Spouse of ‘Today’ Co-host Sheinelle Jones
Uche Ojeh, the beloved husband of ‘Today’ show co-host Sheinelle Jones, has passed away at the age of 45 following his battle with a severe type of brain cancer known as glioblastoma.
The sad news of Ojeh’s death was shared by Savannah Guthrie during a recent broadcast of the show. Guthrie was joined by the entire ‘Today’ family, including personalities like Jenna Bush Hager, Al Roker, Craig Melvin, Carson Daly, and Dylan Dryer, as they collectively expressed their grief.

Guthrie stated, “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Uche Ojeh, husband to our dear Sheinelle Jones, after his valiant fight with glioblastoma, an extremely challenging form of brain cancer. Words cannot express the heartache we feel for Sheinelle and their three young children. Uche was a wonderful human being, deeply loved by all of us, and we would like to take a moment to honor his life and the incredible partnership he shared with Sheinelle.”
A Tribute to Uche Ojeh
The broadcast continued with a heartfelt homage to Ojeh, detailing the love story between him and Jones. The pair, who first crossed paths in college in 1999, tied the knot in September 2007. Their family grew to include three children: their first son, Kayin, born in August 2009, followed by twins, son Uche and daughter Clara, in July 2012.
Craig Melvin reminisced about Ojeh, particularly his devotion to his children, “He always spoke about his kids. His love for them was boundless, and he took immense pride in every aspect of their lives. You would always find him cheering from the sidelines at every soccer match, attending every concert and recital. Their story together was truly beautiful.”
Sheinelle Jones’s Temporary Leave and Gratitude to Supporters
Sheinelle Jones had previously taken a leave of absence from the ‘Today’ show in December to attend to what was described at the time as a “family health matter.” On January 15, via an Instagram post, she expressed her thanks to her colleagues and supporters for their continued support during her challenging times.
She wrote, “I am deeply grateful to everyone who has reached out during my absence from the show. I am currently dealing with a family health issue. I am fortunate to have the support not only from my ‘Today’ show family but also from all of you. Your kindness is incredibly meaningful to me.”
Following the on-air announcement of her husband’s passing, Jones shared the segment on her Instagram, thanking everyone for their love and support. The full segment is available for viewing via her Instagram account.
The ‘Today’ show family and its viewers continue to send their love and support to Sheinelle Jones and her family during this profoundly difficult time, remembering Uche Ojeh as a remarkable partner and father whose legacy of love and dedication will be cherished and remembered.
