Ozzy Osbourne, a monumental figure in heavy metal and the iconic voice of Black Sabbath, has passed away at the age of 76.
His family made the announcement on Tuesday, July 22, revealing that Ozzy Osbourne, known as The Prince of Darkness and the legendary frontman of Black Sabbath, has died. “It is with indescribable sorrow that we must announce the passing of our beloved Ozzy Osbourne this morning. He was surrounded by his family and their love,” stated a family spokesperson.

The British icon, born in 1948 in Marston Green, had been battling Parkinson’s disease for several years. He bid farewell to his music career with a final concert on July 5th in Birmingham, the birthplace of Black Sabbath. Known as the godfather of metal and for his wild antics, Ozzy Osbourne famously bit the head off a live bat thrown at him during a concert in 1982. Fans of MTV will undoubtedly remember the four seasons of his early 2000s family reality show, The Osbournes.
