Fmr. School Board Member Will Respond To Police Findings at Next Commission Meeting

    Decatur Metro | February 13, 2014

Decaturish followed up with former Decatur School Board member and 30+ year resident, Don Denard, who said he’s “considering his options” after the release of this week’s Decatur Police Department investigation findings in response to his accusations of racial profiling back in December.

Mr. Denard tells Decaturish that he will publicly respond to the investigation finding’s at next Tuesday’s Decatur City Commission meeting.  Both District 2 City Commisioners declined to comment on the DPD report prior to the meeting.

The police were doing their jobs. They made a mistake. Move on people.

Easy for u to say. Doubt you’ve ever been needlessly stopped/confronted by police.

I’ve been stopped and confronted by the police in the past. Again, it was a mistake, and they happen. Move on.

It seems like he doesn’t have many options:
      * He could ask for a GBI investigation, which IMO the GBI would decline
      * He could ask for a Federal investigation, which I’m pretty sure the US Attorney would decline
      * He could initiate a lawsuit, which IMO he’s loose badly and I’m not sure what damages he’s seek anyway

Grammar Police, please excuse my fat fingers – he’d, not he’s (twice).

Also, lose, not loose. I’ll see if I can get my English grade dropped to a “D”.

he can shame the Commission and the police management– seems like some of that is due.

Wasn’t that the point of reading his letter at the commission meeting? If he sues, he just wants to get paid. I, for one, don’t want to pay to defend a frivolous lawsuit. What exactly are his damages?

Not sure money is his motive. Believe there is more behind this matter than we will ever know.
