Three Taverns Brewery Anticipates July Release
Decatur Metro | June 3, 2013Over on the Three Taverns Brewery website, President and Brewmaster, Brian Purcell, has been updating folks on construction at their East Decatur Station brewery as the brew station comes together.
In his most recent entry, Purcell describes the most recent action around the facility – “while the construction team completing the walls and doors throughout the brewery were hard at work, a team of pipe fitters were installing with precision the glycol lines necessary for controlling our fermentation temperatures. But the most inspiring moment came when we fired up Bertha, our 6 ton boiler, and ran steam into our mash tun and brew kettle for the first time.”
But then at the end, this note that will be of interest to local beer thrill-drinkers…
The time is finally here and we start brewing our launch beers next week! With the required time for fermentation and maturing, we expect to be in market and on tap at your favorite spots around town the first of July. Stay tuned for more updates and thanks for journeying with me on the road to Three Taverns. Cheers!
Very exciting news!
Whatever happened to the planned construction of the Wild Heaven Brewery?
I have wondered the same thing. WH hasn’t updated their blog on this topic in a year or more … they had planned to build in Avondale Estates – I recall their blog saying something like “targeting the first half of 2012.” Obviously something stalled them … still loving their beer, however (Eschaton – make it more often!)
Is Three Taverns building where the ancient VW repair shop (Advanced Imports) used to be? My local VW repair shop told me that Advanced Imports didn’t have their lease renewed because a microbrewery was getting built …
Advanced Imports is going to be the site of Blue Tarp Brewing I believe. Three Taverns is in the former Push Push Theater space behind Corner Pub/Figo/etc. Three Taverns will be quite a bit larger… 8,500-square-foot brewery/30 bbl brewing system, compared to Blue Tarp at 3,000-quare-foot brewery/5-7 bbl brewing system.
I poked around and learned that Avondale will consider the conditional use permit for Wild Heaven this month – so, it looks like this brewery is back on track.
Headline says “Late July” but the note says “we expect to be in market and on tap at your favorite spots around town the first of July.”
Lord, what is wrong with me lately? Thanks.
We have your back.
What is wrong with you? I just assumed they bribed you with beer to get this news on your site and you, in good conscience, had to try it all out before posting it. Next time, call me and I will verify the quality of the beer so you don’t have to.
Says the guy who willingly drinks PBR.
At last! Looking forward to enjoying some 3 Taverns around town.
Less culture. More beer. Well done Avondale.
