Duckbill Studios in Scottdale Has Closed
Decatur Metro | March 6, 2013Michelle sends along this email from Duckbill Studios sent out last week…
We would like to take this final opportunity to tell all the fans of Duckbill Studios a HUGE Thank You for their support over the last seven years. Without you, our journey would not have been as interesting. Hopefully the creativity of the Duckbill Studios’ artists has enriched your lives in some form or another. After seven years of operation, we have decided to close this chapter in our lives and move on to other adventures. Maybe there is something to the seven year itch after all. The instructors and artists that used to call Duckbill Studios home have found a new home called Atlanta Hot Glass. We hope that you will continue to support the Atlanta glass artists by visiting them, purchasing their art and signing up for their Mailing List.
The studio’s website says they’ve been closed since December 31st, so apparently I’m out of the loop!
The better part of the story is that they’ve bought the building across Laredo Drive from MudFire Ceramics Studio, hard by the bike path and the tracks, for Atlanta Hot Glass. Now they have room to grow and are closer to the other RAD studios.

I’m so sad to see Duckbill go–our family has had so much fun there over the past few years. The owners are wonderful and the people there were really great with kids, helping them create these things themselves (instead of doing it all for them) while keeping them safe. I’ll definitely be finding out more about Hot Glass.
