Last Night’s Storms Trigger New Wireless Emergency Alert That Surprises Some Residents

I received the following emergency alert last night (complete with tones just like you hear on the radio before a test of the Emergency Broadcast System):
Evidently Verizon has rolled the WEA service nationally (AT&T not so much) and these alerts can be received by “capable” devices such as iPhones with iOS 6 installed. More background can be found here:http://gigaom.com/mobile/get-ready-emergency-alerts-are-coming-to-your-cellphone/




A few weeks back, we opened the floor to questions regarding the potential annexation of multiple commercial and residential neighborhoods surrounding the city of Decatur. It took us longer than it should have to compile and send the questions over to Decatur City Manager Peggy Merriss, but eventually we got it done and yesterday received replies back to all of the submitted questions.
